CALL TO CONVENTION
TO: All Faithful Navigators, & Staff
o By virtue of the authority granted to the Master, Fourth Degree I hereby call constituent Assemblies of the First New Jersey District to convene at the Biennial District Assembly (4thDegree Convention), on Saturday March 29, 2008 – This Assembly will be held at St. Philip the Apostle Church, Fr. Malloy Hall, 797 Valley Rd., Clifton, NJ 07013.
The schedule for the day will be as follows:

09:40 AM Registration Opens
10:10 AM Registration Closes
10:15 AM Meeting Convenes
12:00 PM Meeting Concludes
12:15 PM Luncheon

The General Order of Business is listed in the "Laws and Rules Governing the Fourth Degree K of C"
Resolutions may be submitted to the Secretary at any time prior to the Biennial District Assembly. Only those resolutions received by March 14, 2008 will be copied and distributed with the Delegate's packet. All resolutions will be reviewed and recommendations will be accepted from the resolutions committee.

The cost for each voting delegate/alternate is $20.00. The cost for any Sir Knight interested in attending the proceedings is $15.00 each. All FEES must be paid when the registration cards are submitted. All payments are to be made by Assembly check. No one will be admitted without prior receipt of fees.
The following is excerpted from the "Laws and Rules Governing the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus" article 5 section 14 District Assemblies: District Assemblies shall:
(a) Be composed of the Faithful Navigator of each assembly in the district and one delegate for each one hundred members or major fraction thereof of each assembly which delegates shall be elected by ballot at the February meeting in the year in which such district assembly is convened and after prior notice of the holding of such election has been given to the members by notice or publication. Assemblies shall have the right to elect alternates for the Faithful Navigator and for any delegates to which they may be entitled.
The number of delegates each of the Assemblies in the District is entitled to have at the Biennial Assembly is listed below.
For voting purposes a total of 74 votes may be cast, 73 by the delegates/alternates and one by the Master.
All of the Faithful Navigators and most of the staff members will have assignments for the convention, so it would be appreciated if the registrations cards are returned as soon after the election of delegates as possible.
Delegate and Alternate registration cards/sheets are enclosed.
REMEMBER TO PAY FOR ONLY THOSE MEMBERS WHO WILL BE ATTENDING THE BIENNIAL CONVENTION. DO NOT PAY FOR ALTERNATES IF THEY ARE NOT COMING OR COME IN LIEU OF THE DELEGATE.
Examples of payment to be submitted with the registration card/sheet
A. 2 delegate registrations and 2 alternate registrations submitted but only the 2 delegates plan on attending. Total owed $40.00 (2 X $20.00)
B. 2 delegate registrations and 2 alternate registrations submitted and 2 delegates and 1 alternate plan on attending. Total owed $55.00 (2 X $20.00 + 1 X $15.00 = $55.00)
C. 2 delegate registrations and no alternate registrations submitted. 2 delegates and 3 additional Sir Knights plan on attending. Total owed $85.00 (2 X $20.00 + 3 X $15.00= $85.00)

Hoboken Assembly 1542 (1 votes), Archbishop Bayley Assembly 0660 (2 votes) and J. F. Kennedy Assembly 0666 (3 votes) will be entitled to their votes if they hold elections and elect a Navigator, who by virtue of his office will be one of the delegates.
